Bulgarias Chief Prosecutor: I will not resign

I will definitely not resign under any circumstances, Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev said on July 16 in the city of Sliven, Southern Bulgaria.

The statement comes amid several days of protests demanding the resignation of the government and of the Chief Prosecutor.

I continue to fight the mafia and household crime. I work for the people," he noted.

According to him, if he is liked, it means that he is not doing his job. I am not interested in ratings, I am not a politician, Geshev said.

Regarding the resignation of Interior Minister Mladen Marinov, Geshev said he would not comment on political resignations.

According to prosecutor №1, the state has abdicated from minority groups who remain uneducated and commit crimes.

Today he arrived in Sliven due to a large-scale operation conducted by the Prosecutor's office against household crime.

Geshev also met with residents of the town of Shivachevo, where an 87-year-old elderly woman was raped.

The chief prosecutor announced that the elderly lady lived alone and was raped by a low income earner, uneducated sociopath who was drunk.

"He has been detained, but this does not restore the ruined life of the woman and her relatives. Because of them, the Prosecutor's office continues the fight against crime," Ivan Geshev concluded.
