Seven people were accused of propagating antidemocratic ideology of Islamic state, said Bulgaria’s Deputy Prosecutor General , Birislav Sarafov, at a press conference on 26th of November. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, they were involved in a criminal group, with Ahmed Musa as its leader. They were also accused of propagation of war.
The Head of Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security (SANS), Vladimir Pisanchev, commented that this was not a cell of Islamic State, but that it could have become one. SANS monitored the activities of the detained people for over a year and a half prior to the operation and decided to act as soon as they identified the first signs of any attempt to recruit fighters for Islamic State and calls for jihad.
The Prosecutor General, Sotir Tsatsarov, said that the operation was originally planned for December, but it became necessary to undertake it immediately because of leakage of information which was publicly disclosed.
