They were detained during two special operations of Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security and the Prosecutor’s Office in “Iztok” neighbourhood in the town of Pazardzhik in November 2014 and in March 2015. Currently, 12 of defendants are in custody and 2 were released on bail on health grounds.
The supervising prosecutor, Nedyalka Popova, said that sufficient evidence was collected over a short period of time, mostly from Facebook accounts and publications on Arabic and Turkish language.
Some 70 witnesses have been interviewed.
