Sofia city Prosecutor’s office initiates pre-court proceedings against the conservators of Corporate Commercial Bank AD, Elena Kostadincheva and Stanislav Lyutov, a statement of the Prosecutor’s office said on 11th of May.
The allegation is that in the period November 2014 – March 2015, the two conservators deliberately failed to provide sufficient care to protect the CCB’s assets, entrusted to them.
The investigation will look into identifying all contracts signed with the bank for deposits at preferential interest rates and conditions, as well as the amounts of money that might have been paid under them.
Depositors with preferential interest deposits who received payments under these contracts and all officials related to this process will be interviewed as potential witnesses.
In recent days, suspicions arose that the contracts for preferential interest deposits, which under the law were not guaranteed by the state, were changed into standard fixed interest rate deposits in order that the Deposit Insurance Fund repaid them.
The two conservators of Commercial Corporate Bank were appointed by the Bulgarian National Bank in June 2014 after CCB was placed under special supervision..
