Exactly at 12.30 on 18th of September, the banker Tzvetan Vassilev appeared at the police station in the old city of Belgrade to fulfill the requirement to report in person. The bail conditions was imposed on him by the Supreme Court in the Serbian capital.
Vassilev told BNT special envoy in Serbia, Ivo Nikodimov, that after today’s decision of Sofia Court of Appeals to leave in force the order for Vassilev’s 72 hour detention, he wiould not submit to a voluntary extradition and would wait for the outcome of the formal court proceedings in Belgrade, regarding the motion of the Bulgarian authorities.
Tsvetan Vassilev said that the investigation in Bulgaria was politically motivated and that the puppets of the campaign against him were the former Prime Minister, Plamen Oresharski, and the BNB Governor, Ivan Iskrov.
Vassilev also stated that he would return to Bulgaria when he felt it was safe to do so.
From his words it became clear that he was considering the option to apply for political asylum in Serbia.
