Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on January 3 announced that the Ministry of Interior and State Agency for National Security (SANS) are preparing actions in seven more places in connection with the waste. In the meantime, the prosecutor's office is examining data for documents containing false content in connection with the 9 thousand tonnes of waste found at a site of Phoenix Pleven company, BNT sources said.
Investigators suspect that part of the documents with which the company imported the waste from Italy provide false information. Check has been undertaken to identify whether this was done by employees of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Waters in the city of Pleven.
The city's Eco Inspectorate has so far declined to comment. The team did not find director Gabriel Savov at his work place. His secretary said that the inspectors who were investigating the waste case were also absent.
Prime Minister Borissov is pleased with the Ministry of Interior, SANS and the prosecutor's office for the actions taken by them.
Boyko Borissov, Prime Minister: This is not the first place of their check. At least 7 more sites will be subject to checks. So anyone who thinks they can get involved in dodgy affairs at the expense of the state and people's health will be sanctioned.
