41 ensembles and performers from Haskovo region will participate in the National Festival of Bulgarian Folk Art in Koprivshtitsa
41 singing and dancing ensembles and individual performers of authentic folklore from Haskovo region (Southern Bulgaria) have been selected to participate in the 12th National Festival of Bulgarian Folk Art in Koprivshtitsa (Western Bulgaria), which will be held from 5 to 7 August. BNT is among the media partners of the event.
The participants have been selected by a three-member panel of representatives of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the community centres in the region and the Regional History Museum.
The performances of the potential performers of authentic folklore - songs, dances and customs - were observed at three forums in the region – National Fair of Folklore Art "Pretty Thrace Sings and Dances" in Haskovo, the National Folk Festival "Amber Grape" in the village of Lozen, Lyubimets municipality and the International Folklore Festival "With the Songs of Kichka Savova" in the village of Sladun in Svilengrad, the regional administration said.
Singing groups of authentic folklore, as well as individual performers are among the selection in the region.
The regional administration in Haskovo expressed concern that not all those approved would be able to go because of financial difficulties. The administration does not have the resources to support their participation and such costs are not included in the budgets of the community centres whose representatives are the participants.
The municipalities will be mainly relied on for assistance. Today, the Haskovo Municipality announced that the approved performers from their region are a total of 8 individual and group performers.
