68-year-old woman from Strelcha arrested for vote buying
A 68-year-old woman from the town of Strelcha, Pazardzhik district, central Bulgaria, was arrested for vote buying. The arrest took place within the framework of a police raid to counteract crimes related to the voting rights of citizens, which took place last night, October 2, on the territory of Strelcha municipality.
A check was carried out in a house where the woman lived.
The law enforcement authorities received information about illegal activities related to organising and offering property benefits to people to exercise their right to vote in favour of a particular political party. In the course of the raid, a number of notebooks and flash drives were found and seized, which contained personal data on persons listed by localities, addresses and polling stations.
The woman was detained in the custody of the Panagyurishte police station for 24 hours. The work on the case continues under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office in Pazardzhik.
