7th of May is International Radio and Television Day

7 May is International Radio and Television Day. It was on this date in 1895 that Eng. Alexander Popov presented a device for transmitting and receiving electrical oscillations from distances without a wire.

The apparatus made it possible to receive radio signals carrying information by means of radio waves and opened the way to the creation of other radio devices enabling practical use of radio waves.

From one hall of the university building, Popov sent to another hall the words "Heinrich Hertz", which was transcribed on the blackboard by the President of Physical and Chemical Society.

The BNT congratulates all colleagues on the occasion!
