The driver of the other car has died and the woman travelling in the NSP car is in life-threatening condition
A car of the National Service for Protection (NSP), in which the co-chairman of ‘We Continue the Change’ party, Kiril Petkov was travelling, crashed at the entrance to the town of Aksakovo at 5:30 pm on May 16.
The crash was caused by a car suddenly jumping out of a road without priority, NSP told BNT.
An elderly man and a woman were travelling in it. The driver of the car died and the female passenger was admitted in serious condition to a hospital in Varna.
This afternoon an NSP vehicle was driving from Dobrich to Varna, in which the co-chair of "We Continue the Change" Kiril Petkov was travelling. He was supposed to have a meeting with voters in Varna. Around 17:30 at the entrance to the town of Aksakovo, a car came out of a side road, did not stop at a STOP sign and crashed into the NSP car. The crash was caused by a car suddenly jumping out of a road without priority, NSP told BNT.
The driver of the second car died on the spot and a woman from the NSP car is with a life threatening condition at St. Anna Hospital in Varna. Three others were examined and released for home treatment, they have minor injuries.
"Shortly before the town of Aksakovo, from a secondary road, a second car came out, which did not stop at a STOP sign and joined the roadway. A road accident occurred, where unfortunately the driver of the second car died on the spot. A man and a woman, aged 60 and 63, were travelling in the second car. The woman was in serious condition, taken to hospital with multiple injuries. There were four people in the NSP vehicle, the driver and the passengers were also taken to hospital. Their health condition is good at the moment," explained Chief Commissioner Andrey Angelov, Head of the District Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Varna.
The NSP is fully cooperating with the Ministry of Interior and the competent Military District Prosecutor's Office to clarify the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigation is ongoing at the crash scene and the vehicles have not yet been picked up.
Minutes ago, Kiril Petkov expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased driver and wrote on his Facebook account that he was suspending his election campaign.
