A coordination centre for refugees from Ukraine established in Plovdiv
A Plovdiv-Ukraine Coordination Centre is established in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv. The phone line 032/605-550, which will be open around the clock, will collect information on accommodation and job opportunities for refugees from Ukraine from all municipalities in the district, employers, the Bulgarian Red Cross in Plovdiv and private individuals.
“Plovdiv” Hospital has already provided 50 beds for adults and 10 for children and babies, and treatment will be completely free of charge. Employers from the "Thrace Economic Zone" have confirmed that they are ready to accommodate 100 people, as well as to help them start work.
The business community wants rapid changes in labour legislation to allow people with refugee status to start work as soon as possible. At the moment, the procedure for issuing the necessary documents takes about three months.
The Plovdiv municipality has already informed that refugees will be accommodated in the Youth Centre, the boarding houses of the Technical University in Plovdiv, and the home for the elderly in the city. VMZ Sopot plant has also expressed its readiness to hire workers.
