A flamingo made an appearance in front of a block of flats in the coastal city of Burgas
A flamingo appeared in front of a block of flats in Burgas. A signal was received on the green phone of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water on February 20 about a flamingo spotted next to bl. 13 in the "Lazur" complex. An on-site inspection was carried out together with police officers.
The bird was found to be a juvenile, with no visible injuries and in good condition.
The bird was tagged by placing a ring on the leg with a unique code by an expert ornithologist from the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, after which it was released in the Atanasovsko Lake Reserve.
The pink flamingo is a bird of the Flamingo family that lives near salt lakes and sea lagoons. It feeds on plankton, worms, mussels, shrimps, insect larvae and other carotene-rich foods to which it owes its pink colour.
