A historic building in downtown Sofia to become a hotel from the chain co-owned by Robert De Niro
An American luxury hotel brand co-founded by actor Robert De Niro will open two hotels in Bulgaria. The company announced this on its website.
The chain is developing two sites in Bulgaria. One is in Sofia - in the so-called "Bankers Building" behind the National Theatre. The historic building was built in 1912 and has been declared an immovable cultural heritage.
The second hotel of the chain will be on the Black Sea coast in Varna.
The hotel company was founded in 1994 by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, but the first hotel only opened in 2013 in Las Vegas, according to their LinkedIn profile. The brand's portfolio has expanded to include 38 hotels and 12 residence projects worldwide.
