After President demanded answers regarding reports of vote-buying, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior presented a report

The caretaker Minister of Interior, Atanas Ilkov, on November 1 responded to President Rumen Radev and said that the Ministry of Interior has not found any evidence of using state institutions as a cudgel. Prime Minister Glavchev said that he was not in the habit of commenting on the head of state's statements, but that Radev had already been sent the Interior Ministry's report on the actions of the law-enforcement bodies during the campaign and on election day, on the basis of which he would take his decisions.

The caretaker Minister explained that this report is not final and the final one will be ready in 30 days. He expects the report to have new data on pre-trial proceedings and effective sentences. He reported good work done at all levels of the Ministry of Interior from the lowest to the highest.

Against the backdrop of the sharp criticism from the Head of State and a number of political forces for vote-buying and manipulated vote, caretaker Prime Minister Glavchev and Interior Minister Ilkov are satisfied with the organization and conduct of the vote, as well as with the work of the Ministry of Interior.

"I am not in the habit of commenting on the President's statements. We have offered him a report on the basis of which to take his decisions. By the way, he is one of those who can appeal to the Constitutional Court, if he sees irregularities, he can do so," explained the caretaker PM, Dimitar Glavchev.

Glavchev said he was also concerned about the irregularities shown during the video surveillance, but pointed out that everything is now in the hands of the competent authorities, which are the Prosecutor’s Office and the court.

The caretaker Minister of Interior responded to President Radev's question whether state institutions were used as a cudgel during the campaign.

President Radev: Announcement of official election results raises questions about fairness of the vote

"In the signals received and what we are doing as an analysis of everything that has been received as information in the Interior Ministry, we have not found any evidence of state institutions being used as a cudgel. There is no signal that has not been worked on, no fact that has not been investigated in its entirety," explained the caretaker Minister of the Interior, Atanas Ilkov.

Ilkov also reported greater activity and efficiency of the Ministry of Interior in pre-trial and fast-track proceedings, police operations conducted and persons detained compared to the previous early elections. He stressed that the ministry found nothing different in terms of violations during the campaign and the vote on 27 October. He also responded to a question whether there is an umbrella in the Ministry of Interior over Delyan Peevski.

"There is no such evidence in the signal, which refers to pressure or concealment of circumstances related to the buying and selling of votes," the caretaker Minister of Interior said.

The Minister also described as groundless today's accusations by Velichie party leader, Ivelin Mihailov, that Ministry of Interior officials helped manipulate the vote.
