Due to the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, the Ministry of Health recommends that people with symptoms of acute respiratory or intestinal disease be isolated until the complaints subside and limit their contact. Employers should monitor compliance with anti-epidemic measures in the offices and provide, if possible, remote work for their employees.

As of January 7, new rules come into force for those arriving from countries in the Covid-19 "red zone". They will be required to present both a valid EU digital COVID certificate and a negative PCR test done up to 72 hours before arrival in Bulgaria.

Bulgarian citizens who do not have any of these documents will be placed under a mandatory 10-day quarantine. The quarantine may not be cancelled.

Those who present only one of the two required documents will also be required to go into a 10 day quarantine, but it can be revoked if they present a negative PCR test. The updated list of countries by colour zones can be found on the website of the Ministry of Health.

The Order on the amended rules for entry into Bulgaria was issued by Health Minister, Assena Serbezova, on January 5 and takes effect on January 7.
