Sofia City Court issued a restraint order on assets, worth 963 million BGN, belonging to the Bulgarian banker Tzvetan Vassilev. The order was imposed at the request of Bulgaria’s Commission for Illegal Assets Forfeiture (CIAF), but the procedure has not been completed yet, CIAF told BNT journalists on 11th of June.
According to the decision, Sofia City Court has prevented the access of the banker to shares, bank accounts, safety vaults, vehicles and paintings.
The restraint is a result of a one year examination aiming to identify if there was a discrepancy of 250,000 BGN between the declared income and the property acquired over the past 10 years.
Currently Tzvetan Vassilev is in Belgrade on condition that he presents himself at the local police station every day. He is subject to an extraction request from Bulgaria based upon an allegation that he embezzled 206 million BGN from Corporate Commercial Bank.
