Bulgaria's gas transmission operator Bulgartransgaz and Turkey's peer Botas signed interconnection agreement
The Bulgarian gas transmission operator Bulgartransgaz EAD and the operator of the gas transmission system of the Republic of Turkey Botas signed an agreement for the interconnection between the two national gas transmission systems at the Strandzha-Malkoclar point.
The signing of the document comes as a result of the long-term joint efforts of both operators’ teams.
The agreement specifies the technical conditions, including the minimum transmission pressure and natural gas quality characteristics, as well as the applicable procedures on both sides of IP Strandzha/Malkoclar.
Based on the conditions agreed in the document, the technical capacity of IP Strandzha/Malkoclar in Turkey-Bulgaria direction in Bulgartransgaz EAD gas transmission network is set at 117,677,153 kWh/d, and in Bulgaria-Turkey direction - 504,138,541 kWh/d.
The agreement is of key importance for the diversification of natural gas sources not only for Bulgaria, but also for the regional and European gas markets.Bulgartransgaz said.
Via Turkey's gas transmission network, access is provided to natural gas from local fields, Azerbaijan, Iran and the global LNG market through Turkey's regasification terminals.
The signing of this interconnection agreement strengthens the leading role of the Bulgarian gas transmission operator in achieving market integration, diversification and security of natural gas supplies in the region and in Europe, the Bulgarian gas transmission operator said.
Matching of the nominations and allocation of the transported quantities will be carried out according to the Agreement, and information about the procedures concerning users at that point is published on Bulgartransgaz EAD website in section CUSTOMER ZONE -> CONDITIONS FOR USE OF NETWORK SERVICES.
