At the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Acad. Nikolay Denkov, will take part in discussions on disinformation, environmental risks and economic uncertainty.
Ideas and strategies related to economic insecurity, environmental risks, artificial intelligence and countering fake news at the centre of this year's discussions.
"Europe was at the forefront of science, innovation and power in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, but then the US and China realised faster than we did that we should not pit basic against applied science. These countries have invested in the development of market-oriented science, which is paying dividends. In doing so, they have attracted talent from Europe and created an ecosystem in which science and innovation are linked. They did it faster than Europe," said Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov.
According to the World Economic Forum (WEF)'s latest risk report, misinformation and disinformation emerged as the key short-term threat, while extreme weather is thought to be a key long-term issue.
Nikolay Denkov will participate in a series of discussions and personal talks.
'Rebuilding Trust' is the motto of this year's WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, 15-19 January.
More than 2,800 participants, including some 60 heads of state and government, will take part in the Davos forum. Among the top political leaders taking part are French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The United States will be represented by Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
