Bulgaria actively supports Turkey's European path, said President Rumen Radev
Bulgaria is one of the countries that actively support the European path of the Republic of Turkey, President Rumen Radev said during a ceremony in which he presented the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bulgaria, Aylin Sekizkok, with the Order of the Madara Horseman, first degree, in the Coat of Arms Hall of the Presidency on March 19. The highest state award is for the diplomat's particularly great services to the strengthening and development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He stressed that Turkey is an important neighbour and long-tem friend of Bulgaria, a NATO ally, a strategic partner in a number of areas of mutual interest. The President highlighted the favourable development of relations between the two countries in recent years.
He pointed to security, energy and transport connectivity, border protection, environmental protection among the topics of cooperation. Many of the decisions on these issues were initiated and implemented during your term in office, Radev addressed Aylin Sekizkok.
President Radev said that Turkey has become one of the leading trade and economic partners, but also a strategic investor for Bulgaria. He stressed that he highly appreciated Turkey's efforts to develop these relations.
Our two countries are responsible for the security, stability and economic prosperity of the entire region of Southeast Europe and this responsibility is reflected in a number of bilateral initiatives within NATO to strengthen our security and stability, Rumen Radev said. Bulgaria highly appreciates Turkey's participation in the multinational battle group on our territory and the recent memoranda we concluded to jointly counter mines in the Black Sea and for cross-border operations in connection with the protection of airspace, NATO's integrated air and missile defence, he added.
