Bulgaria and Vietnam to sign labour migration agreement

By the end of the year, Bulgaria and Vietnam will sign an agreement on labour migration. This became clear today (January 8) after a series of meetings of the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament, Rosen Zhelyazkov, and the delegation he leads with the Speaker of the Vietnamese Parliament, the Prime Minister and the President.

The sectors that have the need but also the potential for more intensive joint work are energy, industry, pharmaceuticals and tourism, Zhelyazkov told his Vietnamese counterpart. A trusted friend and an important partner of Bulgaria - this is how the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament described Vietnam.

"Cooperation in the area of security should be linked to preventing the consequences of organised crime, as well as strengthening police cooperation. This year, the contractual basis should be completed with work on the labour migration agreement between the two countries, which had provided the basis for labour mobility for the needs of the Bulgarian market," Rosen Zhelyazkov said.

To this end, a labour migration agreement will be signed this year.

"Within the framework of such an agreement, all the conditions for the work of Vietnamese citizens in Bulgaria will be specified - their social and health insurance, the working conditions under which they will be accepted, the opportunities for qualification and retraining. The agreement at this stage will not address specific sectors", said Denitsa Sacheva of GERB-UDF - chairwoman of the Social Committee in Bulgarian Parliament.

"In pursuing its foreign policy, Vietnam focuses on cooperation with the EU as Bulgaria is a priority partner," Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman, Vuong Dinh Hue, pointed out.

Bulgaria and Vietnam can be together on the path of accelerated economic development, Rosen Zhelyazkov told the President of Vietnam, while he and the country's Prime Minister discussed boosting trade.
