Bulgaria has become Covid-19 dark red zone

Bulgaria is now classified as Covid-19 dark red zone. The national Covid-19 morbidity rate is 547 per 100, 000 population. This is 10% more compared to yesterday.

The update on the national information portal on January 7 showed that of the country’s 28 districts, eight are dark red zones, 18 are red zones and two are yellow zones

The district of Kyustendil has become dark red zone, thus bringing the total Covid-19 dark red zones in the country to 8, including Blagoevgrad, Bourgas, Varna, Pernik, Rousse, Sofia district and Sofia city. Only two districts remain as yellow zones.

The Covid-19 morbidity rate is highest in Sofia city, where the infections are 887 per 100,000 population on a 14-day basis. The increase over the past 24 hours is just above 13%.

In Sofia, the Covid-19 beds have been increased by about 20%.

87 beds were opened for treatment of children and newly born. 55% of the beds for treatment of Covid-19 in Sofia have been occupied.
