Bulgaria is now in the Covid-19 orange zone
Bulgaria has been re-designated as orange zone in terms of the spread of Covid-19.
The 14-day morbidity reached 113 per 100,000 people.
In half of the country's districts the incidence is over 100 per 100,000 people.
The costal district of Bourgas reports the largest number of infected - 183 per 100,000. In Sofia-city, the cases are 148 per 100,000.
The Ministry of Health will request an extension of the emergency epidemic situation after August 30, Deputy Minister Alexander Zlatanov told BNT on August 16.
A discussion on the possible introduction of stricter measures against the coronavirus is expected in a few days. According to Zlatanov, although Bulgaria is now in the orange zone, not all indicators for the introduction of stricter measures have been met yet.
He recalled that each district can decide whether to tighten anti-epidemic measures.
Less than 30% of the beds are occupied for the treatment of uncomplicated patients and in intensive care units.
Several options for the beginning of the school year in the conditions of an epidemic are being discussed.
The forecast of Deputy Minister Zlatanov is that the students will start the school year on a normal schedule and will rotate between in-person attendance and online classes.
