Bulgaria is opening “green corridors” for Covid-19 vaccinations from April 30 to May 9

The opinion of the European Medicines Agency on the Jansen vaccine against Covid-19 is that the benefits outweigh the possible side effects. This was announced by the Chairman of the National Vaccination Headquarters Prof. Krassimir Gigov after a meeting on April 22.

The opinion of two more European commissions is expected tomorrow and only after that the health authorities in Bulgaria will come up with a decision on its use, he explained.

"Some side effects can always be expected with each vaccine, the question is to what extent and frequency they are, as well as what age groups it affects," said Prof. Krassimir Gigov.

“Green corridors” for vaccinations against Covid-19 will be opened from April 30 to May 9, Bulgaria’s Chief state Health Inspector, angel Kunchev, said.

The regional health inspectorates will make the necessary arrangements. Details on the working hours of the “green corridors” at the vaccination points will be announced on April 26, he added.

This does not prevent GPs from doing immunizations if they wish during this period.

For the “green corridors”, there will be vaccines of all types, currently available in Bulgaria, assured Assoc. Prof. Kunchev.

From May 10, people will be able to choose the vaccine they prefer to receive, said Prof. Krassimir Gigov.

To date, 676,501 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 have been administered in Bulgaria, including 19,168 in the past 24 hours. A total of 143 185 people have received a second dose.
