Bulgaria marks the Day of Europe

On 9th of May, Bulgaria marks the Day of Europe and 78 years since the end of the most devastating war in history - World War II.

Head of State Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova attended the ceremony of raising the flag of the European Union in front of the Presidency.

Earlier in the day, at 9:00 am, Head of State Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova presented flowers at the Monument to the Unknown Warrior in Sofia to mark the 78th anniversary of the victory over Nazism.

Today also marks 73 years since Robert Schuman's famous declaration setting out his idea of a new form of political and economic cooperation in Europe that would make war between European nations unthinkable.
