Bulgaria ranks second to last in the EU according to Transparency International's corruption perception index
The country is in 67th spot in the global ranking of 180 nations.
Bulgaria shows a slight improvement in the corruption index measured by the human rights organization "Transparency International". The country’s corruption perception marked improvement compared to previous year.
According to this year's research by the organization, the country ranks 67th in the world. Last year, Bulgaria was in 72nd position.
In the latest report, Bulgaria shares the 67th place with the Central African country of Sao Tome and Principe. Immediately before Bulgaria, in 63rd position, are Romania, Montenegro, Jordan and Kuwait.
Among the countries of the European Union, only Hungary has a worse result than Bulgaria, which is in 76th position.
The best results in the fight against corruption, according to Transparency International, are by Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Norway and Singapore.
