A vigil in memory of the murdered journalist Viktoria Marinova from Rousse, will be held on 8th of October in front of "Sveta Nedelya" church in Sofia. The vigil is organised in the social networks and will start at 18.30.
The body of Viktoria Marinova was found in a park near the River Danube in the Northern Bulgarian city of Rousse on Saturday, 6th of October.
Police in Bulgaria have not yet identified a suspect. It is not known if the murder is linked to the work of the 30-year-old woman at a local TV station, TVN. The investigation is looking into her professional and personal life.
The Ministry of Interior later said she was also been raped, brutally beaten and strangled. The keys from the car, the documents and her phone were not found, it is investigated whether she had been threatened.
The Committee for the Protection of Journalists urged the Bulgarian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the murder of Viktoria Marinova. The Committee recalls that two journalists were killed for the past year because of their work - the Slovakian investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and the Maltese journalist Daphne Kerouana Galicia.
