Bulgarian Orthodox church marks Holy Wednesday

Holy Wednesday commemorates some major events that preceded Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross.

The day recalls Judas’ decision to betray Jesus and the anointment of Jesus at Bethany.

In the Orthodox Church, Holy Wednesday is dedicated to the repentant sinner who poured ointment on the Son of God. His disciples were indignant, but Jesus said the woman had done a good deed - she had prepared him for burial. After this incident, one of the twelve apostles, Judas Iscariot, went to the Jewish chief priests and offered to betray Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver.
