The fifty-fourth Plenary Session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) is being held in Sofia on November 20 under the chairmanship of Bulgaria.
Bulgarian Parliament’s Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva opened the forum by saying that the development of the Black Sea region in a stable, democratic and prosperous area is a key objective related to the main strategic interest of both the members of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and the European Union member states, to which the Black Sea is external sea border.
Karayancheva expressed confidence that today's discussion will contribute to the promotion of common goals, actions and projects to be implemented jointly, as well as to enhance relations between the BSEC Assembly and the European Parliament, both at the institutional and the highest level.
Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev also congratulated the participants, noting that BSEC is a unique format with representatives from different countries and cultures united by the common goal of seeking more and better opportunities for development.
He wished fruitful work at the plenary, stressing that it was common interest for the Black Sea region to become a zone of security and prosperity. He also said that any policy should lead to a result that reaches people.
