Bulgarian Red Cross transferred BGN 1 million for the victims of the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria
The Bulgarian Red Cross transferred additional BGN 1 million from the funds raised under the National Campaign to help the victims of the catastrophic earthquake in Türkiye and Syria on 6 February 2023. The funds have been allocated as follows: BGN 600,000 on a bilateral basis to the Turkish Red Crescent and an additional BGN 400,000 to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC/RRC) Emergency Appeal - MDRSY099 - 07/02/2023.
This brings the total amount transferred for the two affected countries to BGN 1,810,000.
On the very first day, the Bulgarian Red Cross, under the IFRC Appeal, allocated 5000 Swiss francs to Syria from its Disaster, Emergency and Crisis Fund. On 9 February 2023, again through the Appeal, BGN 480,000 were also transferred separately to Türkiye and BGN 320,000 to Syria, with the funds coming from the organisation's National Campaign.
The Bulgarian Red Cross is also sending the first two tonnes of humanitarian aid to the victims in Syria.
The Bulgarian Red Cross continues to raise funds under the National Campaign to help the victims of the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, and on the request of the Turkish side - winter tents. Anyone wishing to support the campaign can do so through the specially opened bank account:
