Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister Zaharieva received North Macedonia’s special envoy Buckovski
Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva on January 11 received the special envoy appointed by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Vlado Buckovski, who is on a working visit to Bulgaria.
During the meeting, the two exchanged ideas on continuing the process of restoring trust between the two countries. A review was made on the implementation of commitments, in which Bulgaria noted a delay.
Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Krassimir Karakachanov said that the Republic of North Macedonia was counting on a new government in Bulgaria, a new administration in the United States and support from the next Slovenian presidency.
“As long as there is hate speech, as long as someone there thinks that they may use external factors to put pressure on Bulgaria, or that the situation in Bulgaria may change after the change of government, possibly in the spring of this year, there is no point in talking, I think. They seem to forget a basic fact that they were reminded of by the Portuguese Foreign Minister: the problems are not between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia, but between the EU and the Republic of North Macedonia, because the problems of a member state like Bulgaria or Greece are problems of the whole EU," Karakachanov said.
