Bulgaria’s FM Genchovska on protests in Skopje against French proposal: Worrying reaction, more time should be given to the authorities
Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska on July 6 made a laconic comment on the protests in North Macedonia against the French proposal regarding unblocking Bulgaria’s veto for the start of North Macedonia's EU accession talks. She called for more time to be given to the authorities in Skopje.
"The colleagues in the RNM have a path related to procedures, to pass the documents through the Council of Ministers and through their Parliament. In a democratic country, this reaction is quite worrying. Let us give them the opportunity to explain to their society what this package is," she said.
Protests in Skopje against the French proposal and "Bulgarianisation" continue for a third day. Riots led to clashes with police - nearly 50 law enforcement officers were injured. There were detained.
