Bulgaria’s PM and trade unions discussed the future of Maritsa-East energy complex

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on September 8 held a meeting with the President of the trade union “Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Bulgaria” (CITUB), Plamen Dimitrov and representatives of the trade unions of Maritsa-East mines.

The talks focused on the future of the Maritsa East complex, as well as the government's measures to tackle the socio-economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was held before the Council for Tripartite Cooperation, Mining and Geology convened today at the Ministry of Energy, which will discuss the prospects for solving the problems of the complex.

The topic was also discussed during the talks of Prime Minister Borissov with the President of Confederation of Labour “Podkrepa” trade union Dimitar Manolov on Saturday, when the President of CITUB Plamen Dimitrov also joined the discussions by phone.

Today's meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Deputy Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov.
