On 6th of August, Bulgaria’s President Rosen Plevneliev signed a Decree to dissolve the 42nd National Assembly and scheduled the early general elections for 5th of October.
Through another Decree, the President appointed the caretaker government with Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki.
The new caretaker government formally took office on 6th of August. At an official ceremony held in the Granit hall of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers’ building this morning, the outgoing Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski handed over the power to the caretaker Prime Minister Bliznashki.
The caretaker Prime Minister said that it was necessary to restore the confidence of the civil society in the political institutions of the country. The caretaker government will do everything possible the elections to be organized and held with the active participation of the civil society, Bliznashki emphasized.
He outlined the priorities of the work of the caretaker government in three directions:
- To stabilize the main public systems and areas of governance;
- To restore the confidence of the partners from EC and NATO;
- To continue the implementation of key reforms which had already started.
