Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev and Justice Minister Nadezhda Yordanova on April 21 signed the decree for the termination of the work of the specialised Prosecutor’s office and Speciliased court.

This was announced on Facebook by the Justice Minister.

This comes a week after lawmakers adopted amendments to the Judicial System Act to close the specialised justice units. The amendments also provide for the abolition of career bonuses and describe the transfer of cases initiated to the traditional courts.

"Today, in my capacity of Minister of Justice and 'Keeper of the Seal', I signed the Decree promulgating the Law on the Amendment and Supplementation of the Law on the Judicial system, adopted by the 47th National Assembly on 14 April 2022, which abolishes the Specialised Criminal Court, the Specialised Criminal Court of Appeal, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office of Appeal," Yordanova wrote.
