Bulgaria’s’ Covid-19 vaccination plan is ready: medics, police officers and senior citizens set to be first in line for immunisation
At a working meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on December 3, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov and the chief state health inspector Assoc. Professor Angel Kunchev presented the National Plan for Vaccination against Covid-19, which is to be approved at a meeting of the Cabinet tomorrow. The membership of the National Vaccination Task Force will also be approved.
The Minister of Health also informed that the work on the logistics continues with the provision of refrigerators in which to store the first deliveries of the vaccines, requiring storage at low temperatures.
He added that the coronavirus immunization plan was created based on the experience of countries such as Germany and proven international institutions such as the WHO.
"The plan is actually ready. We are prepared to start when the vaccines come, even if they arrive tomorrow", prof. Krasimir Gigov, Head of the National vaccination task force told Prime Minister. He added that leading specialists and representatives of the relevant ministries will be included in the task force.

"Doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, police officers working on the frontline and people aged 70 and over are set to be the first in line to get the vaccine," added Professor. Gigov and stressed that the plan will describe in detail all the parameters of the immunization campaign.
PM Borissov noted that at the moment the first batch of vaccines arrrive, the state will be ready to provide vaccine for every Bulgarian who wants to get it. The vaccines will be voluntary and free of charge. This ensures synchrony in the joint work between the National Coronavirus Task Force and the vaccination task force.
"All EU Member States have invested together in the development of seven Covid-19 vaccines. They will come at different times, and each of them has its own uniqueness. This is good because when they are delivered in the country, Bulgarian citizens will be sufficiently informed which vaccine they would prefer to have " Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said.
Currently, a discussion at expert level is taking place regarding Bulgaria’s participation in supply of eighth vaccine, which is expected to be on the market in late 2021.
