Cabinet allocates BGN 2.5 million for spraying against mosquitoes on the Danube River
The government approved funding of up to BGN 2.5 million under the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food for the implementation of a disinsection campaign along the Danube, the press service of the Council of Ministers said on June 27.
As a result of the many rains and changeable weather this spring, there has been an excessive increase in the mosquito population along the Danube.
Pest control will be carried out by widespread spraying of affected areas along the river. A disinfestation campaign will be carried out using professional means and equipment to achieve the mass elimination of mosquitoes and prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in humans and animals in these risk regions.
