Car sales and imports declined because of the Covid-19 pandemic
Imports and sales of cars has declined, car dealerships and the Association of Car Importers in Bulgaria have reported.
The Covid-19 pandemic and the people’s anxieties about the financial situation are among the reasons for the drop in car sales..
"There is a decline in sales in Europe. In Bulgaria we mainly buy second-hand cars. And in Europe, because of the coronavirus, car sales have dropped because it is not known what will happen next. At the moment, there is a slight increase in the prices of cars, about 10%, due to the decrease in imports from Europe ", the manager of a car dealership Nikolay Barbalov said
The forecast given by the Association of Car Importers in Bulgaria "is that after the pandemic, a big rise in car prices is expected.
"There are almost no deals in Western Europe at the moment, cars are very difficult to find. I predict that new imported cars will be by 10 to 15% more expensive than they have been so far," the deputy chair of the Association of Car Importers in Bulgaria, Lyubomir Dorosiev, said.
In the past two years, there has been a demand for electric and hybrid cars, which are second-hand.
"This is the trend in the future. Electric cars are very, very expensive. Hybrids are already acceptable, very good cars can be found second-hand," said Lubomir Dorosiev..
Bulgaria is still in one of the last places in terms of sales of electric cars in Europe.
