Caretaker cabinet reported on its work for the preparation of the June 9 two-in-one elections

All activities in preparation for the elections were carried out in full transparency and on time, the ministers responsible for the organisation of the upcoming vote on Sunday told caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev in a working meeting at the Council of Ministers on June 7.

There were no delays in any of the deadlines, said caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications, Georgi Gvozdeykov, to whom the government entrusted the coordination of the implementation of activities related to the organisational and technical preparation of the elections.

Caretaker Minister of e-Governance, Valentin Mundrov, highlighted the additional measures that the ministry has put in place in order to maximise transparency in the certification of voting machines. The minister added that the CCTV devices are already in place.

Caretaker Minister of Interior, Kalin Stoyanov, said a timetable is expected from the central electoral commision for the transportation of the machines, which should take place tomorrow.

Caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Violeta Koritarova, noted that the voters' lists have been updated and were prepared on the basis of the data received daily from the municipal administrations to update the National Population Database. In the last 10 days, before they were printed, the Civil Registration and Administrative Services General Directorate checked the applications for voting based on residence address so that there was no duplication of voters entitled to vote on the basis of current residence address and permanent address.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also in the final stages of preparations for the elections in the polling stations abroad. The last of the voting machines will be delivered abroad today. Representatives of the Bulgarian state in the polling stations election commisions are also travelling. Deputy Minister, Ivan Kondov, pointed out that tomorrow the CEC will receive the official reported that all activities for the votingnabroad have been completed by the Foreign Ministry.

Early parliamentary elections will be held in Bulgaria on 9 June 2024, to elect members of the national Parliament.

This will be Bulgaria’s sixth parliamentary election since 2021.

The election coincides with the European Parliament election on the same day.
