Caretaker health minister presented an action plan in the event of new Covid-19 wave

Caretaker Minister of Health Dr. Stoycho Katsarov on July 8 presented an Action Plan in the event of a new wave of COVID-19.

"The plan is generally based on the following principles - a description of the current situation in the country from the main epidemiological point of view, an analysis and assessment of risks. Thirdly, an assessment is made of the available resources of the health system and what it has, with the risks and opportunities to meet such a wave," the health minister said.

If the country enters the yellow zone, activities and businesses will be limited. If Bulgaria enters the red zone, grocery stores, pharmacies, shops, banking institutions and basic necessities will remain open. "This is the process when more than 9,000 beds are occupied and when the number of infected reaches the numbers we remember from the last few waves," said Dr. Katsarov.

Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Alexander Zlatanov said that border health control should be carried out in an effective manner and with a clear goal - to reduce the risk of entry and spread of the infection and thus create conditions for pandemic control in the country ".

It is planned that the kindergartens will be closed only at the last stage, but they will be attended by children if their parents are immunized, as well as the staff in them.

The zones are classified on the basis of 14-day morbidity. Green zone - less than 100 people per 100,000 population. From 100 to 200 per 100,000 population is orange zone. The red zone is when the number of Covid-19 cases is from 200 to 500 per 100,000 population, and more than 500 cases per 100,000 is the dark red zone.

The areas of morbidity are also determined by the number of beds occupied with COVID patients. Up to 2,500 occupied beds - green zone. From 2,500 to 6,000 occupied beds - orange zone, from 6,000 to 9,000 - red zone and over 9,000 occupied beds - dark red and the maximum phase of morbidity.
