Caretaker PM orders speeding up of construction of National Children's Hospital
Clearing the construction site for the National Children's Hospital could be accelerated by two months. The work can be done within five months, instead of seven. This became clear during the working meeting convened by caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at the Council of Ministers with the participation of caretaker Minister of Health, Dr Galya Kondeva; caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Violeta Koritarova, and experts from both ministries. Discussions on the subject are also to be held with the contractor of the project, the Cabinet press office said on June 2.
The shortening of the timeframe will be linked to maximum intensive work during the summer months. The aim is to have the main work of removing the old buildings and clearing the construction site done during the summer season so that the hard work can be completed by winter, even before the free assesment by the European Investment Bank. The assessment is expected to come out early next year and will show what the structure, wards and capacity of the National Children's Hospital should be.
The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Health to urgently explore the possibilities of accelerating this grant analysis as well, even at the cost of government funding.
Traffic regulation in relation to the removal of waste from the site will be clarified with the Ministry of Interior and Sofia Municipality. In parallel, work is being carried out on the completion of the Sofia Ring Road, from where the necessary transport link for the hospital complex is planned.
