Central Election Commission announced final results of Bulgaria’s April 4 Parliamentary elections

Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission (CEC) on April 9 announced the final results to the April 4 Parliamentary elections and the allocation of the MP seats in the next Parliament.

The centre-right GERB-Union of the Democratic Forces (UDF) coalition will have 75 seats, which is by 20 less compared to the previous parliamentary elections.

The party of TV talk show presenter, Slavi Trifonov, “There is Such a People” will have 51 seats.

The centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) won 43 seats. In the previous parliamentary elections it had 80.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) has won 30 seats. From the parties in the previous Parliament, MRF is only one with more seats than in the previous elections – by 4 more.

Hristo Ivanov’s pro-reform “Democratic Bulgaria” coalition will have 27 seats.

“Rise up! Thugs out!, the coalition between former ombudsperson Maya Manolova and “The Poisonous Trio”, the organisers of the anti-government protests, won 14 seats.

Eight of the elected MPs said they did not want to take their seats as MPs in the new Parliament and notified the CEC: 2 from GERB, including. Boyko Borissov and 6 from MRF.

According to the final results, voter turnout was 50,61% which is by 4% less than in the 2017 general elections.

More than 3,300,000 voted in the elections, of which 790,000 used the machine voting.

The option “I do not support anyone” was chosen by 47,700 people.

The spoiled ballots were 86,527.

The decision of the Central Election Commision is subject to promulgation in State Gazette.
