Machine voting will be available in 5,900 polling stations in the local government elections runoff on Sunday, November 5, Central Election Commission (CEC) Spokesperson said at a briefing on November 1.

She clarified that this is not the final number.

A total of 7,250 polling stations have been opened so far for the second round of voting in the local elections. The number will rise once as polling stations in specialised facilities such as hospitals and prisons will be opened 48 hours before the election day.

In the second round on Sunday, the Bulgarians will vote to elect 91 mayors of municipalities, 451 mayors of town halls and 31 mayors of regions.

In four town halls, the race in the second round of voting will be between three candidates because the second and third candidates received the same number of votes in the first round.

6,380,052 people are eligible to vote on 5 November.

According to the MEC, 2,713,979 people exercised their right to vote in the first round of elections on 29 October. This makes a turnout of 44.94%.

In the previous local elections in 2019, the voter turnout was 49.76%, and in the parliamentary elections on April 2, it was 40%.
