China intends to strengthen its economic partnership with Bulgaria and other Central and Eastern European countries. This became clear during a discussion on the One Belt One Road initiative, which is 10 years old.
At an event at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia on October 12, the successes of the economic cooperation between China and the countries of Europe, part of the initiative, were presented.
Since the start of the One Belt, One Road partnership, trade between China and Bulgaria has increased significantly, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Assoc. Deyan Stratev. He stressed that cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector is particularly serious.
Over the past 10 years, the two countries have also deepened their partnership in the field of space food, Prof. Radev said. Denitsa Borisova from the Institute of Space Research and Technology at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).
Joint initiatives in the field of education have also improved over this period, the forum organisers stressed. In 2023, the first Chinese group of economics students will start studying at the University for National and World Economics (UNWE) in Sofia.
Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, Rector of UNWE, was adamant that the potential for cooperation between Bulgaria and China in the field of education is huge. This was confirmed by the words of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolai Pavlov, who pointed out that a lot of work is being done in this area.
That is why strengthening the link between science and business has been set as a top priority by the government, he stressed. According to him, this link is envisaged in a number of strategic documents such as the Recovery Plan.
