Christmas dinner foods and drinks cost between 15% and 20% more than last year.

Eggs, butter, pork and chicken meat have increased the most in price. Economists say the driven up prices in December is not a surprise as it reflects the higher costs for personnel during the festive season and January being the hardest month financially.

In January, consumers cut back on spending and this is not good for the business, economist Elena Stavrova says.

The analysts say they do not expect a new increase in prices of everyday essential foods at the beginning of the new year but advise to spend money wisely.
