Consultations for a new government will begin after Prime Minister submits the resignation of the cabinet

Bulgaria’s Head of State Rumen Radev will begin consultations with parliamentary groups to hand over a mandate to form a new government once the Prime Minister submits the resignation of the current government in the Parliament, in accordance with Article 89 of the Constitution.

President Rumen Radev's administration said this on June 23 in response to journalists' questions.

Article 89, paragraph 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria states:

“Should the National Assembly vote no confidence in the Prime Minister or the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister shall hand in his government’s resignation.”
