Coronavirus in Bulgaria: 2,191 new cases

The newly confirmed cases of coronavirus in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours are 2,191 from 8,036 tests, the daily report on the National Information Portal shows on July 27.

Test positivity rate is slightly above 27%.

The total lab-confirmed cases in the country since the start of the epidemic are 1,200,550

The active cases are 20,888.

Of the total, 957 patients are in hospitals, 48 of them being in intensive care.

During the past 24 hours:

•1,376 recoveries;

• 3,561 administered doses of Covid-19 vaccines;

• 8 Covid-19 related deaths.

Of the daily cases, 66.32% had not been vaccinated.

Of those who died, 75.00% had not been vaccinated.

There were 199 new hospitalisations, of which 74.37% had not been vaccinated.

Since Monday, July 25, wearing masks in public transport in Sofia and Plovdiv is mandatory. Despite numerous violators of the order, only 9 warning reports were issued in the capital after a joint inspection of the Centre for Urban Mobility and the police on July 26. For systematic violators, the fine ranges from BGN 300 to BGN 1,000. However, penalties cannot be imposed by ticket inspectors in the public transport.
