Coronavirus in Bulgaria: 264 recoveries, 16 deaths in 24 hours as number of new cases falls

The total of new COVID cases has decreased by 9.8% compared to the last 2 weeks, health minister Kostadin Angelov told the press at a special briefing Tuesday afternoon.

Prof. Angelov reassured the audience of the efficiency of the so called soft measures taken by authorities against COVID pandemic.

No further extending of restrictions are needed as the spread of the infection shows a decreasing trend, the minister explained.

The newly registered cases of COVID-19 are 204 out of 4137 PCR tests made in the last 24 hours. This is shown by the official data released by the National Information Centre for the coronavirus.

There are 823 patients in hospital, including 43 in intensive care. Two hundred and sixty-four people recovered while 16 lost the battle with the illness.

The largest number of new cases is in Sofia - 51, followed by Varna - 42 and Dobrich - 19.
