Cougar helicopter is helping to put out wildfire in Bulgaria’s Rila mountain
The area of the Musalenska path under the Yastrebets hut in the Rila Mountains is burning. A crew from the 24th Krumovo Air Base with a Cougar helicopter took part in the fire control activities on August 10.
The helicopter took off from the air base at 5:10 p.m. The crew was tasked with inspecting the mountainous area affected by the fire. They will help to contain the fire by dropping water through the "bambi bucket" fire extinguishing system, with which the helicopter is equipped.
The crew of the 24th Krumovo Air Base took part in the actions for extinguishing the fire in Rila Mountain at the request of the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" and by order of the Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov.
