Council of Ministers allowed exports to Ukraine of petroleum products derived from Russian crude oil

As of 5 February 2023, the export of petroleum products from Bulgaria to Ukraine is allowed, the Council of Ministers decided at its regular meeting on February 1.

By its decision, the government authorised the granting of a derogation under Article 3m(7)(2) of Council Regulation (EU) 2022/2474 of 16 December 2022 amending Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine.

It also authorises the export of certain refined petroleum products derived from Russian crude oil imported on the basis of the obtained import derogation to third countries.

This is necessary in order to limit environmental and safety risks, as such products cannot be stored safely on the territory of the country, the cabinet specified.
