Day 89 of protests in Sofia
For the 89th consecutive evening (October 5), demonstrators gathered to protest in the centre of Sofia. Their demands remain unchanged - the resignation of the government, the chief prosecutor, the introduction of machine and electronic voting, reform of the judiciary.
The debate on Bulgaria, which will take place tonight in Brussels, was the main topic of comment among the protesters.
Shortly after 8 pm, excerpts from interviews with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and government officials were projected on the facade of the National Assembly building, as well as video material from Brussels with the participation of the protest organiser, Professor Minekov from the Poisonous Trio.
Part of the debate in the European Parliament on the rule of law in Bulgaria was broadcast live at the protest. Due to a technical problem, the broadcast was suspended and the demonstrators marched on their traditional procession to Eagles’ Bridge, where they blocked the traffic.
